Great Blue Heron

Sitting in the bright evening sun

I was able to get quite close to him because the sun was setting directly behind me and I could tell he couldn't really see me.

He must have been fishing - here he is ruffling his feathers which is what herons do to dry off.

Green Heron

As I was heading home I barely saw this guy on the muddy flat.

He was standing still as a statue as he stalked his meal.

Classic pose - about to strike.

Of all the shots I've taken of a Green Heron these are the first I've taken of one stalking prey
