Big Gator and Little Bittern on Guana

What’s Up?
I kind of got back in the swing of things this week after my adventures downtown last week. It was my weekend to cover Saturday at work so I had Monday and Tuesday off and took advantage of it. I wound up paddling three consecutive days - the most I've paddled in a couple of months.

I'm still having to take it easy with this abdominal thing but I'm pushing it a little more each time I go out. Right now, Guana seems like the place to be as with the extreme low water levels the usual spring nesting activities are even more visible than usual. One word of warning if you plan a trip out there - less water means less places for the Gators to go and with mating season well underway you don't want to get between a big ole Gator and the water. I had one or two "bumps" as they flushed beneath me as I passed over them. Other than that - you can't beat seeing masses of Stilts, Spoonbills and other birds running about on the exposed flats.

Paddle Forecast
High tides
will be mid-afternoon to early evening

The weather forecast calls for temps cooling off a bit to start the week with highs in the low 80's but warming back up to the upper 80's by the weekend. There's a good chance of rain early in the week but mostly dry the rest of the week.

This week's forecast gets a  "Pretty Darn Good" rating.
